Lawrence Detamore

Lawrence Lee "Punk" Detamore, 79, a resident of Adrian, the Alton community, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at his home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1927, at Centralia, a son of the late James M. and Letha Frame Detamore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Jean Sandy Detamore.

Surviving are three daughters, Janice Cutright and husband, Scott, of French Creek, Virginia Detamore of Alton and Vickie Reed and husband, Roger, of Tennerton; four sons, Jim Detamore, Steve Detamore and Lawrence "Bub" Detamore, all of French Creek, and Donald Detamore and wife, Becky, of Alton; eight grandchildren, Christopher Detamore, Jason Detamore, Katie Unrue, Tracy Dunn, Cassie, Ashley and Autumn Detamore and Jacob; six great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Norma Detamore of Buckhannon; one sister, Sylvia Price of Ohio; and his faithful dog, Troubles.

Mr. Detamore was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and David Detamore; and several brothers and sisters.

He had spent 23 years as a trackman with the B&O Railroad. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947. He was a Methodist by faith. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, also at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dan Lowther officiating. Interment will follow in the Alton Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW 3663, American Legion 7 and DAV Chapters 36 and 5. Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements for Lawrence Lee "Punk" Detamore.
