He had a military career in the U. S. Army:In World War II he served in France, Luxembourg and at the Battle of the Bulge. In the Korean conflict he served in Taegu, Korea and served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge Oak Leaf Cluster to the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal, along with eight other medals.
