Herbert M. Baker, 85, Newport, died Sunday in the Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was a retired Perry County auditor and registrar and recorder of deeds. He attended Shippensburg University and was a former school teacher. He was a member of Wila United Methodist Church, Citizens Fire Company No. 1, and the Historical Society of Perry County. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Social Order of Owls and the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife, Ilda Hoffman Baker; one son, Robert M. Baker, Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Vera Toomey, New Bloomfield; and two granddaughters.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, with the Revs. Dr. David S. Harper and Mark S. Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
