James A. Hight, 93, of Front Royal, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.
Born in Nelson County, Virginia on March 15, 1918, he was the son of the late John Henry Hight and Claudia Campbell Hight.
He was married to the late Lucille Floyd Hight of King William County.
Mr. Hight first worked as a purchasing agent, personnel officer and assistant to the president of the Natural Bridge of VA, Inc. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in Australia and New Guinea. After the war, he worked with the Peoples National Bank in Lexington. He received a degree from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. In 1965 he moved to Front Royal as executive vice-president of the Bank of Warren where he later became a trust officer, president and then chairman of the board.
He is survived by one son, James A. Hight, Jr. of Lynchburg and one sister, Mrs. Edna Schlosser of Zamora, CA.
A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington, by the Rev. Deborah W. Rutter, Rector.
Byrum-Parr Funeral Home is serving the family.
