Jerome H. Arndt
Jerome H. Arndt, 87, Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday morning (January 3, 1994) in the Blessing Hospital at Quincy, Illinois.
The son of Jerome A. and Mary Candace Norris Arndt, he was born June 29, 1906 at Ewing, Missouri.
On October 29, 1932, at Greensburg, Missouri, he married Evelyn Pettit and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond A. Arndt and Charles Arndt and one sister, Irene Arndt.
Mr. Arndt was reared in the Ewing, Missouri area. He attended school in LaBelle, Missouri, and graduated from high school in Hurdland, Missouri. He attended the College of Fayette and graduated from the Chillicothe Business College at Chillicothe, Missouri.
He was employed by a lumber company in Salina, Kansas before moving to Edina, Missouri in 1936, where he operated the Antrim Lumber Company for fifteen years. He was transferred to St. Louis, Missouri and later to Wisconsin where he continued to be employed in the lumber industry.
Mr. and Mrs. Arndt moved to Ft. Madison, Iowa where they operated a restaurant for five years. he later owned and operated one of the first robo car wash in Burlington, Iowa which he operated for twelve years.
Following their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Arndt moved to Quincy, Illinois where they have resided since 1980.
During World War II he served with the United States Army from 1943 thru 1945.
He was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church at Greensburg, Missouri. He was also a member of the Greensburg Lodge #414 A.F. & A.M.; KAABA Shrine Temple at Davenport, Iowa; 32nd degree-Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free-Masonary of Valley of Davenport and also a member of the American Legion Post at Quincy, Illinois.
Masonic Rites will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday (January 5, 1994) at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri conducted by the Greensburg Lodge #414 A.F. & A.M.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday (January 6, 1994) at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri with the Reverend Robert Shobe officiating. Music will be provided by Robert and Elizabeth Poore. Burial will be in the Greensburg Cemetery at Greensburg, Missouri.
