James Franklin & Dovie Mae Gunn's parents were James Robert Gunn 1834-1928 and Mary Elvira (some say Elizabeth) Mills 1839-1914.
Sadly, Dovie's first husband, James R. Leeton, died before their little girl was born.
Dovie then married Charles Robert Gunn who was her cousin. Charles' dad was Lycurgus "Crug" Aurrilious Gunn. James Robert and "Crug" Gunn's dad was James Haines Gunn.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Sunday, October 17, 1971, Section 8-A, Page 5, Column 1 - Rites Scheduled For Mrs. Gunn - SPUR (Special) - Mrs. Dovie Mae Gunn, 100, a Dawson County resident 59 years, died about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Methodist Hospital after she suffered a broken hip Friday. -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Spur Church of Christ with Gary Williams, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Spur Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home. -- Mrs. Gunn was born in Oxford, Miss., and moved with her husband, the late Charles Gunn, to Dawson County in 1912. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. T. B. Watson and Mrs. Robert Crawford, both of Spur; a son, Lloyd Gunn of Washington, D. C.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
