DANIEL E. BLACKMER
MANCHESTER CENTER - Daniel E. Blackmer, 66, of Manchester Center, employed in the office here of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company for 27 years until his retirement in 1957, died Wednesday at Putnam Memorial Hospital, Bennington, where he had been a patient for a week.
Mr. Blackmer was born in South Dorset Jan 7, 1892, son of John and Gertrude Reynolds Blackmer. He served with the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I, spending 18 months in a machine gun battalion.
He was a member of the famed Equinox baseball team of 19??, which was Vermont champion. He was a member of Zion Episcopal Church of Manchester Center, the American Legion and the Telephoning Pioneers of America.
Surviving are his wife, the former Edith Fleming; a son, Daniel F. of Manchester Center; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Gertrude) Stacey and Mrs. John (Genevieve) R. Bell of Manchester Center; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Seymour Wilkins of Manchester Center.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2:30 pm from Zion Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Clayton, rector, officiating. Friends may call at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester Center today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
