TINMOUTH - Gertrude Helen Blackmer Stacy, 89, died Nov. 14, 2010, in Newark, Del., surrounded by her family.

She was born March 12, 1921, in Manchester, the oldest daughter of Daniel Elijah Blackmer and Edith Fleming Blackmer.

She graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1939.

On Aug. 16, 1941, she married Kenneth James Stacy. During their marriage of 58 years, the couple was active in the community of Manchester, performing in the Village Chorus, a select group of singers.

Mrs. Stacy was also a member of the Zion Episcopal Church, helping with youth group, Sunday School, and church suppers. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She worked as a government secretary for the U.S. Forest Service for 10 years.

She enjoyed gardening, decorating, entertaining, playing piano, traveling and reading.

She spent her 80th birthday in Paris.

For many years, she and her husband spent the winter months in Venice, Fla.

For the past three years, Mrs. Stacy wintered in Delaware with her youngest daughter, Debra duPont, son-in-law Richard and grandsons Benjamin, Zachary and Samuel. She continued to spend her summers in her lakeside home in Tinmouth.

Survivors include her three children, Sheila Stacy Handrahan of Plymouth, Mass., Kenneth J. Stacy, Jr. of Tinmouth, and Debra Stacy duPont of Newark, Del.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held in Vermont.
