Manera "Nera" Sims, 91, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon and came to the United States as a young child. She was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS, a retired Army Nurse, and a retired registered nurse with Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She loved gardening, and helping others through her church and circle.

She was a patient and devoted wife and mother, who loved her family, and sacrificed her entire life to ensure their well being and happiness. She is loved dearly and will be missed greatly.

In addition to her parents, Zydan and Nejmie Saliba, Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by her husband George Kenneth Sims. Survivors include: two sisters Miss Rose Saliba of Blythville, AR and Amelia Kahalley of Mobile, AL; three children Kenneth Richard Sims of Aberdeen, MS, Bebee Sims Taylor of Calhoun, LA and Charles (Elizabeth) Sims of Hattiesburg, MS; nine Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:00pm at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd. with services to follow at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Briarwood Presbyterian Church or a .
