Z.B. Saliba 64, retired grocer of Blytheville who first came here in 1909, died at 8:30am enroute to a Memphis hospital in an ambulance, near Osceola.
Funeral seruvces will be held at 2:30 pm tomorrow at the Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. James A. Overholser. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Saliba came to the United States in 1891 from Syria, where he was born Oct. 6, 1876. He was in business at Cario, IL before moving to Charleston, MO in 1903. He operated grocery stores at both places until 1909, when he came to Blytheville and operated a grocery concern with the late N. S. Saliba.
In 1913, Mr. Saliba visited raltives in Syria and was forces to remain there until the World War was over. He returned here in 1909, then in 1926 left again, this time to go into business at Steele, MO. He retired a year later because of ill health and returned here again, where he lived until his death Sunday.
Pallbearers include Fred Saliba of Joiner, Fred Saliba of Blytheville, and Mike Koury, C.A. Abraham, F. Simon, and Phillip George.
Honorary pallbearers are Dave Moore, George Moses, N. Koury, Sam Elias, G. G. Saliba, Dr. J. A. Saliba, Roy Walton, A. G. Shibley, Zal B. Harrison, Ray Schmuck, Moses Goerge, Bryant Stewart, J. Nick Thomas, Ray Worthington, W. S. Longdon, J. L. Cherry, Dr. H. A. Taylor, and Harry Kirby.
Survivors include the wife Mrs. Nejlmi Saliba; three sons, Richard, Charleston MO, and Mitchell and Elliott Saliba, both of Blytheville, five daughters, Adebe, Manera, Bettie, Rosie, and Amelia Saliba all of Blytheville; a niece Mrs. B. Saloom, Enterprise AL, and several cousins.
