Mrs. Amelia Saliba Kahalley, a native of Blytheville, Arkansas, and a resident of Mobile, Alabama for the past 60 years, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 11, 2012, at the age of 86. Amelia was a graduate of Blytheville High School and was former society editor of the Blytheville Courier News. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church as well as the Lebanese-American Club of Mobile. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, Zydan Basheer Saliba and Nejmie Saliba; four brothers, Richard Saliba, Mitchell Saliba, Adeeb Saliba and Elliot Saliba; five sisters, Rosine Saliba, Adebe Saliba, Manera Sims, Bettie Kittany and Rose Saliba; one son, Sperdon A. Kahalley, Jr.; and her loving husband, Sperdon A. Kahalley. She is survived by five children, Stephen (Helen) Kahalley, Patricia (Charles) Hyland, William (Beth) Kahalley, Barbara J. Kahalley and Melanie (John) Joseph; nine grandchildren. Michael E. Hyland, Stephanie L. Kahalley, David C. Hyland, Matthew A. Kahalley, Sarah E. Kahalley, Bridget C. Kahalley, W. Mitchell Kahalley, Jonathan E. Kahalley and John F. Joseph, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Julian Z. Kahalley and Olivia M. Kahalley; brother in law, Edward Kahalley, Sr; sisters in law, Melvina Kahalley, Jackie Kahalley and Celine Kahalley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Visitation will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1453 Old Shell Road, on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of the South, P.O. Box 9693 Mobile, AL 36691 or to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1453 Old Shell Road, Mobile, AL 36604.
