Mary A. Hipps was born Apr 29, 1832, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to parents Adam Joseph Hubsch-Hiipps (ca 1805-1860), and Frances Baker (ca 1810-1871), both born in Germany. Mary's mother Frances came to the United States in 1831, and in 1832 she married Adam Joseph Hubsch - this surname is also spelled Huebsch, and in the latter part of 1800s, most of the children were spelling the last name as Hipps.

Mary had seven brothers and sisters. They were:
John Hipps (ca 1834-)
George Hipps (ca 1835-1863)
Catherine Frances Hipps-Kirkpatrick (1837-1919)
Joseph Hipps (1844-1911)
Elizabeth Hipps-Flanagan (ca 1846-)
Margaret Hipps-Gray (1847-1937), and
Magdalen Hipps (ca 1849-).

On May 14, 1855, in St. Benedict's Church, Carrolltown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, Mary married Peter Woodley, Jr., born in France/Germany (ca 1831-). Peter was the son of Peter Woodley, Sr. (ca 1803-1876), and Catherine Nolet (1805-1865), both born in Germany.

Peter and Mary settled into a life of farming in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The couple had 9 children:

John Jacob Woodley (1857-1857)
Catharine Helena Woodley (1859-1915)
Martha Cecelia Woodley-Lantzy (1861-1947)

John Edward Woodley (1870-1895), and
Andrew Woodley (ca 1875-).

RECENT DEATHS
MRS. MARY WOODLEY
Mrs. Mary Woodley, wife of Peter Woodley, of Allegheny City, died Tuesday morning last, of catarrh of the stomach, aged 64 years. Deceased formerly resided in this county.
She is survived by the following: Two brothers--Joseph Hipps, of St. Lawrence, and John Hipps, of Lumber City. Four sisters--Mrs. Jos. A. Gray, of Carrolltown; Mrs. Archibald Kirk, of Elder township; Mrs. Frank Beam, who resides in Maine, and Mrs. Flannigan, of East Liverpool, O. Besides these she leaves six daughters--Cecelia, wife of Andrew Lantzy, of Hastings; Levina, wife of David Lantzy, also of Hastings; Mrs. Vandrew, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Dickson and Mrs. Talpott, both residing in Allegheny City.
Funeral took place this (Friday) morning, interment being made in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Allegheny.
