Adam Joseph Hubsch was born about 1805 in Germany, parents unknown at this time. Hubsch is also spelled Huebsch, but most of Adam's children were using the spelling of Hipps in the latter part of the 1800s.

On Jun 17, 1832, in Loretto, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, Adam married Frances Baker, born in Germany (ca 1810-1871). Frances was the daughter of Frederick and Mary Magdalen Baker, both born in Germany.

Adam and Frances first lived in the Huntingdon County before they moved and settled in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, into a life of farming. They had 8 known children, all born in Pennsylvania: Mary A. Hipps-Woodley (1833-1895), John Hipps (ca 1834-), George Hipps (ca 1835-), Catherine Frances Hipps-Kirkpatrick (1837-1919), Joseph Hipps (1844-1911), Elizabeth Hipps-Flanagan (ca 1846-), Margaret Hipps-Gray (1847-1937), and Magdalen Hipps (ca 1849-).

Adam died Jun 29, 1850, and is buried in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
