Obituary: Left Large Family
Nathan E. Abel, whose death on Tuesday of last week at his home in Lost River township was mentioned in last week's News, left a large family of children and numerous other relatives. Among the host of relatives left to mourn Mr. Abel's death are his wife, six sons, six daughters, seven step children, a large number of grand children and great grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. his children are Mrs. Henry Christian and Mrs. J. T. Blackwell of Bicknell, IN' Richard Abel, of French Lick; Everett Abel and Mrs. Robert Smith of Vincennes, Mrs. Perry Whittington of Orangeville, I
N; Mrs. David Davis, John and Sam Abel of ILL; Miss Anita Abel, Hamilton, OH, and George and Willard Abel, of Shoals. The brothers and sisters are John F. Abel, of Decker, IN, Josiah Abel, of Shoals, and Mrs. Mary K. J
ones of Anderson, IN. Mr. Abel was born in Orange Co., IN March 4, 1846 being aged 76 years and three days at the time of his death. He went with his parents to Dubois county when ten years of age, and later came to Marin county where he spent the greater part of his long life. He served thirteen months in the union army during the civil war as member of Company D, 145th Ind. Infantry. he united with the Christian church as Canecreek Chapel, Dubois County forty-five years ago and had been a member of the Masonic order for forty-eight years. he was a splendid citizen and will be greatly missed in the community in which he resided. March 17, 1922.

Nathan Abel, aged seventy-seven years, a civil war veteran and widely known citizen of the southeast part of the county, died early Monday morning at his home in Los River township. mr. Abel was born and reared on t
he farm where he died and where he had spent his entire lifetime. He had been married twice (This disputes the 5 wifes reported, my notes.), h
is last wife surviving him. he also leaves a large family of grown children and step-children and many other relatives. This cemetery was in a Christian Church yard. The church was by a creek and it would flood. They built the church on a hill up the road from it.
