Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Shelton, 70, of DeKalb, Ill., died Wednesday at her
home.

She was born March 19, 1934, in Marshall, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Nelson and Lodusky (Rice) Buckner.

She married Ishmael J. Shelton on Oct. 15, 1960, in Greeneville, Tenn. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Shelton was employed at Cords and Essex Wire in DeKalb for 30 years and was later employed at Cooper Industries in Sycamore until her retirement.

She was a member of Calvary Assembly in Kingston.

Mrs. Shelton was an avid bowler and Bingo player.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Janet and F. Michael Proctor of Elburn, Ill.; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Ada and David Barham of Greeneville and Nancy Harris of Asheville, N.C.; a sister-in-law: Leula Buckner of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at Doughty Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Doyle Pruett will officiate.

Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David Wayne Barham, Wendell Waddell, Herbert Waddell, Jack Crowe, Stanley Hensley, and Kenneth Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Harris, Lance Laws, and Todd Laughlin
