Note: She died in Wales and is buried in Wales, but the only available country is the U.S. hence the New York entries to get the system to take her record.****Anne deLancy, daughter of Stephen (Ettienne) deLancey, (a member of the minor nobility of France who fled to America after the recovation of the Edict of Nantes) and his wife, Anne van Cortland whom he married after arriving in New York. Anne had three brothers and one sister. She married John Watts in July of 1742 in New York and they had the following children:(1)Robert who married Mary Alexander the daughter of Lord Stirling (2) Ann who married Archibald Kennedy 11th Earl of Cassilis (3)Stephen and Susannah-twins who died in infancy(4)John who married his cousin Jane deLancy (5)Susannah who married Phillip Kearney and were the parents of Gen. Phillip Kearney of Civil War fame (6)Mary who married Sir John Johnson (7)Stephen who married Sarah Nugent (8)Margaret who married Robert Leake (9)James who died of smallpox as a child. John and Anne deLancy Watts were Loyalists and in 1775 both returned to England and settled in Wales where, just a few months later, Anne died. Her death and burial place are sometimes given in error as New York, USA. Her husband, John, and her parents , have cyber graves here.
