Willa Pruitt Ward, 90, of Laurel, formerly of Perry, Fla., died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living in Laurel.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at McKenzie Funeral Home in Whiteville, N.C., with interment in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Guy C. Ward and infant son; parents, Durant and Caroline Pruitt; brother, Carl Pruitt, and sisters, Rachel Inman and Sally Smith.She is survived by her son, Kenneth Ward and wife Faye; grandchildren, Darrin Ward and Wendy McHarge; and three great-grandchildren, all of Perry, Fla.; daughter, Jane Ward Coghlan of Laurel, and three granddaughters, Pamela Coghlan of Plano, Texas, Karen Kison of Alexander City, Ala., and Jennifer Coghlan of Laurel; son, Donald Ward and wife Mary Sue and grandsons, Brock Ward and Lance Ward all of Adel, Ga.; sister, Lear Wigner of Wilmington, N.C. and brother, Kermit Pruitt of Wade, N.C.; and a host of other relatives.Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at McKenzie Funeral Home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
