Mr. Bookhout was a lifelong Madison resident and had worked with the University of Wisconsin anatomy department for 25 years before retiring in 1961. He was married to Blanche Davidson in 1922.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Master Masons of Middleton Lodge Ko. 180 and of the Madison Scottish Kite Bodies.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Mrs. Douglas L. Johnson, Pensacola, FL, brothers, Russell, Everett WA and Fred, Morrisonville; and three grandchildren.
