AMALIA "MOLLY" (HETTINGER) BANGERT 1885-1970

Daughter of David and Mary Elizabeth (Bangert) Hettinger, was born Jan. 1, 1885 in Russia. Her death occurred on January 7, 1970 at the Ala Fern Nursing Home in Russell, Kansas. Her age was 85 years.

Baptized in early infancy and later confirmed, she received her education and training in Russia. After the turn of the century, she came with her family to America to settle in Russell County in 1901. On May 2, 1907, she was united in marriage to Henry Bangert. They made their home on a farm 7 miles south of Russell where she resided until 1952. Her husband died April 17, 1917. With her family of 6 children and 2 step-children from her husband's previous marriage, she continued the management of the farm until she retired and made her home in Russell in 1952. She was a member of the Methodist Church just west of their farm home until it was forced to dissolve like many other farming community churches. She then joined the Trinity Lutheran Church at Bender Hill and remained a member until her death. In failing health for several years, she was forced to give up her own home in Russell and live with her sons, John and Edwin before entering the Ala Fern Home , two and one half years ago for required nursing care.

A devoted mother, a gracious sister, neighbor and friend, her many acts and deeds of devotion, love, sacrifice and friendship will always be remembered and cherished by her children, John and Edwin of Russell, Mrs. Lydia Vaughn, Chanute, Kansas, and Emanuel of Denver, Colo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Faxon, California; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 sisters Mrs. Sophia Batt, Hoisington, Mrs. Eva Strecker, Bazine, Kansas, Mrs. Lydia Lockman [Lackmann], Sheridan, Wyo., Mrs. Ann Boutel, Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Jacob Hettinger, Denver, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends. Two sons preceded her in death; Reuben, in 1967 and William in 1959; also a step-daughter Ohrla Wingert (in 1965).

Memorial services conducted by the Deines Funeral home at 1 p.m. and from the Trinity Lutheran Church south of Russell at 2. p.m. Jan. 10, 1970. Internment at the Russell City Cemetery, Russell, Kansas. (Deines Brothers Funeral Home, Russell, KS)
