Funeral services for Dorine Stephens, 79, of Sulphur were held Feb. 28, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Sulphur with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment was at Byars Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stephens died Feb. 25, 2004 at Norman Regional Hospital.

She was born Nov. 6, 1924 at Thorne, N.D., the daughter of Simeon and Clara Casavant Grenier. She moved to Oklahoma in 1950, living in Byars and moving to Sulphur in 1985.

Mrs. Stephens was a lifetime member of the Phinu Sorority, member of the P.E.O. and of the First Baptist Church, Sulphur.

She was married to J.B. Newbern from 1951-1967 and to Buck Stephens from 1969-1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buck Stephens; two brothers, Theodore and Harvey Grenier and a sister, Velma Milange.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Ann McGowen of Paoli, Julie McBroom of Ada and Marie Boyce of Anchorage, Ala.; two sons, James Newbern of Purcell and John Newbern of Byars; a stepson, Carl Stephens of Madill; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrold Grenier of Minnesota and Orville Grenier of Rolette, N.D., and one sister, Lucille Hart of Pauls Valley.

Pallbearers were Warren Thompson, Wayne Moore, Jim Freeman, Clay Jack, Gary Freeman and Roy Province.
