Effie Lee Groves
Effie Lee Groves, the second born daughter of F. M. and Bernice Toal Davis, was born July 5, 1909 at Fort Worth, Texas and passed from this life May 12, 2000 in Janesville California.
During her growing up years in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma she attended school at Breezy Meadow and graduated from Strong City high School in 1929. She continued her education at Southwestern State College, Weatherford, Oklahoma. She taught at Red Star and Rocky in Roger Mills County and at Sterling, Oklahoma for 10 years.
She married Donald Groves on the 19th day of September, 1931 in Canton, Oklahoma. They had one son, Donald Gene. The family moved to Long Beach, California in the early 1940ís where Effie Lee continued to teach until retiring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Groves, her parents and two sisters, Ida Mae Ezzell and Berniece Ashley.
She is survived by her son, Donald G. Groves, Janesville, California; three sisters, Alta Scott, Frances Scott and Rudy Daw, all of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and one brother and wife, Weldon and Nelda Davis, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was laid to rest in Janesville, California.
