Mary Vaughan Traylor, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Lafayette, died unexpectedly at 9:34 AM Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, in her home. Born and raised in Lafayette, she graduated from Jefferson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and attended Indiana University School of Law. She lived in Evansville for 26 years and moved to Key Biscayne, FL, in 1977. She married Ferris E. Traylor on December 9, 1950, in St. Boniface Church; he survives.

Mrs. Traylor and her twin sister were the first women to join the Purdue University Marching Band as majorettes. They also were featured in 'Life' magazine in a story on identical twins, and were the original twins featured in advertisements for Toni Co. beauty products, known as the Toni Twins. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, Alpha Chi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity, a founding member of Junior League of Evansville, and a member of Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority. She enjoyed golfing and the arts. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, loyal sister, and cherished friend.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Charles Vaughan Traylor (wife Krista) of Indianapolis and Ferris J. Traylor of Lafayette; three daughters, Mary T. (Mrs. Herschel) Cook, Marjorie T. (Mrs. Randy) Roberts, both of Lafayette, and Irene T. (Mrs. Eddie) Bustamante of Miami, FL; her twin sister, Marjorie Vaughan Price of Lafayette; a sister, Colleen V. (Mrs. Bill) Hopkins of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Charles Vaughan (wife Tudy) and Jack Vaughan (wife Jeanne), both of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Ashely, John and Charley Traylor, Alison and Kelly Roberts, Eddie, Ferris-James and Madeleine Bustamante; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial mass Dec. 13 at St. Mary Cathedral, Monsignor Fred Potthoff, Father Bob Klemme and Father Phil Bowers officiating; with internment at St. Marys Cemetery.
