Marjorie Vaughan Price, of Lafayette, IN, passed away at home Thursday, August 13, 2009. Born and raised in Lafayette, she graduated from Jefferson High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and attended Indiana University School of Law.

Her career began as a narration model in Chicago, IL, followed by becoming the Midwest Editor of Living Magazine and then on to be the national color coordinator for Sears, Roebuck and Co. In 1965, Mrs. Price returned to Lafayette, IN, when she married George E. Price.

Mrs. Price and her twin sister, Mary Vaughan Traylor, were the first majorettes with the Jefferson High School and Purdue University marching bands. They were featured in Life magazine in a story about identical twins, and were the original twins featured in advertisements as the Toni Twins. In 1946, while attending Indiana University School of Law, the Twins were crowned Homecoming Queens. They were also members of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity.

Mrs. Price's involvement in community activities included a lifelong passion for golf. She was a two-time champion of the Greater Lafayette Women's Golf Association tournament in 1955 and 1958, and was the president of the Indiana Women's Golf Association in 1958 and a board member. In 2006 she received the Jo-Ann Price "Spirit of Golf Award."

She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Lafayette Social Service, the Lafayette Country Club, the John Purdue Club, and a charter member of the Purdue Sportswoman Society and Boardr.

Mrs. Price's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and friends in the Lafayette community.

She is survived by brothers, Jack N. Vaughan (wife: Jeanne) of Lafayette, Charles R. Vaughan (wife: Tudy) of Lafayette; sister, Colleen V. M. Hopkins (husband: Bill) of Fort Wayne; and nephews and nieces, Charles V. Traylor, Marcia V. Warter, Jack W. Vaughan, Vincent W. Vaughan, Douglass J. Myer, Charles V. Vaughan, Mary T. Cook, Thomas W. Vaughan, Steven J. Vaughan, Colleen M. Kimbrough, Jeanne V. Walker, Marjorie T. Roberts, Kelly V. Busch, Suzanne G. Bindley, Irene T. Bustamante.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. Vaughan, Mary R. Vaughan; husband, George E. Price; sister, Mary V. Traylor; brothers-in-law, James Douglass Myers, Ferris E. Traylor; nephew, Ferris J. Traylor.

Visitation will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009, at St. Mary Cathedral, 1207 Columbia St., Lafayette, IN 47901. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
