Annie married Moses Branscum 9 August 1856 in Locust Grove, Searcy County, Arkansas. Census records list Annie as white, but family tradition has it that she was Cherokee. Annie and Moses had Eleven children, including eight boys who earned a reputation for being the meanest in the county: William Asbury, James Edward "Jim," Andrew Jack (who later drowned in White River trying to rescue two Hamilton sisters who also drowned), Samuel B. "Sam," John Wesley, Levi "Dock," Calvin "Cal," and Thomas Jefferson. Moses and Annie also had three girls, Josie, Elizabeth, and Pollie.
