Parents: William(son) Smith Mize and Dorcas Stovall. Smith Mize (son of John B Mize and Phebe MNU) was born about 1828 in Habersham County, GA. He died in Oct 1864, in a hospital in Shreveport, Caddo, LA from illness, shortly after having enlisted in the CSA. Dorcas Stovall (daughter of Benjamin Stovall and Sara MNU) was born 20 Feb 1831 in St. Clair County, AL. She died 29 Jan 1897 in Jonesboro, Jackson Parish, LA. The couple was married in St. Clair, AL on 10 Aug 1845. They and their children first came to Mer Rouge, Morehouse, LA and then were in Winn, Louisiana for the 1860 census.


Married 1st wife: Amanda "Mandy" Caroline Walsworth on 22 Sep 1868 in Jackson Parish, Louisiana. She was born about 1848 in probably Clarke, AL., the daughter of Richard Walsworth and Savannah(sp?) Buckaloo. Mandy was orphaned at an early age and raised by her aunt and uncle, Susan Buckaloo and James Augustus Antley. Mandy was the mother of John Williamson Mize's first three children.

Following Mandy's death (between 1876 and 1878 in probably Oak Grove, West Carroll, LA; burial place unknown), John Williamson Mize married Donia Anglen, 18 Mar 1878 in Lincoln Parish. She is sometimes referred to by current family members as Doni Stovall. Very little is known about her. She probably died between 1880, after the census, and 1881. She was the mother John Williamson Mize's youngest child, Walter Benjamin Mize.


Died aft. 1881, White Ferry, Union, LA. His burial place is unknown.
