Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Harris was the daughter of Edward B. and Mary Marietta Wilcox Harris. She first married Silas Holbrooke 1 Jul 1863 in Whiteside County, Illinois. To this marriage was born a daughter, Jennie. Silas Holbrooke died reportedly from disease during the Civil War. Widow "Betsy" Harris Holbrook married Thomas Marion Drane 16 May 1868 Shell Rock, Bremer County, Iowa. The Drane family moved from Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa to Keyapaha Co., NE in 1885. The Drane marriage produced eight children with the first six being born in Iowa before the move to Nebraska: Marguerette M. 1871, Thomas Marion Jr. 1872, Harris 1876, Robert LeRoy 1878, George Henry 1881, Florence Effie 1884, Lillian Belle 1886, Herbert William, 1889. Betsy died 18 Nov 1889 from complications of child birth less then a month after her last child was born. She was just 41 years old.
