John Bowen Cobb was the first son born to Andrew Jackson Cobb and his wife, Charlotte Worley. Three girls had been born first - Lena Rivers Cobb, Nancy Jane Cobb, and Nellie O Cobb - and as with most farming families, the birth of a son was important.
John was born in 1885. Following his birth, two other boys followed, and by 1897, the family was complete with eight children. On the 1900 census, Charlotte Worley Cobb reported that she had given birth to 8 children and 8 children survived.

On September 7, 1920, John Bowen Cobb died and was buried at Chandler Cemetery. His widow, Maggie, remarried in 1921 and had additional children with her second husband, Robert N Brazelton.
