Short Bio:

Was born in Lincoln county, Maine, August 15, 1831, and resided at his
birthplace till 1849, during which time he attended the common schools of his native State. In 1849 he left his home and went to Thomastown, Maine,
and began the ship-carpenters trade, which he followed there till 1859.
He then went to sea, and followed it for the next six years, coming to
California in 1867, and began working in the mill at Nevarro as a carpenter.
He worked at this for eighteen months, when he took charge of the filing. In
1877 he was made foreman of the mill at Nevarro, which position he still retains.
Married Miss Belle S. Gliddon, June 16, 1869, who was born June 6, 1843, in
Waldo county, Maine. Their children are: Lelia A., born March 24, 1876; and
Algernon, born August 17, 1879.
