NEW ORLEANS (UPI) – A 78-year-old priest who entered the ministry at the age of 55 has died after a long illness. The Rev. Francis Lyle Kennedy died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital.
Kennedy, a native of Illinois, came to New Orleans in 1976 and was a judge in the Metropolitan Tribunal, the ecclesiastical court.
Officials said before enrolling is Beda College in Rome to study for the priesthood, Kennedy was a special assistant Attorney General and was engaged in liaison work with Congress and representatives of foreign governments.
