Malinda Brown Lee was my third great grandmother. She was the daughter of Micajah and Catherine McDowell Brown. Malinda was born in North Carolina, but her family moved and settled along the Missouri River Valley of Ray County. Here is where Malinda met and then married Robert H. "Bob" Lee on March 5, 1829, making their home in this familiar spot for the next twenty years. During this time eight children were born. A son, James, was born with mental defects and would require care from Malinda the remainder of her life. In 1850 Bob moved the family to Pettis, Platte County, Missouri where one more child was born. Around 1860 they moved again and lived with their son Abel and his family in Davis, Caldwell County, Missouri. Bob died sometime while they were living here. In 1870 Malinda is living with another son, Wiley, and his family. The 1880 census is the last census that Malinda is found. She is taking care of her son, James who is now thirty-four years old. They are back in Crooked River, Ray County, Missouri. Malinda dies here, but no grave stone has ever been found.
