Pheaby Jane Vanderpool was the daughter of Robert H. "Bob" and Malinda T. Brown Lee, born in Platte County, Missouri. She was the last one born of nine children. Pheaby married several times, the last being October 21, 1888 to Henry Clayton Vanderpool and they had three children. (Martha Ann Lee Whitworth)

Death came to Mrs. Pheba Vanderpool yesterday afternoon at her home 617 Isley. The deceased was 80 years old, October 11, 1934. She had been active all her life up until about five weeks ago when her health failed. Funeral services will be held at New Garden church Sunday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Vanderpool was born in Ray County. She leaves to mourn her death, a husband, Clate Vanderpool, two daughters, Mrs. Cordia Duncan and Mrs. Pearl Readdy, of the home, two sons, Will Jones of Excelsior Springs and Roscoe Vanderpool, of Orrick, Mo. There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vanderpool moved to Excelsior Springs almost six years age from Ray county. Her home before coming here was five miles east of Excelsior Springs. The funeral services which are to be conducted by Elder Leon Clevenger are to be held at Pisgah. The death of Mrs. Vanderpool causes great sorrow to come into the hearts of many friends of the deceased.
