A native of North Carolina, where he was born April 26, 1869, he went as a youth to Leadville, Colorado and in 1890 to Butte where he was employed for some time in mining and freighting, being married there to Margaret White in 1894. In the early 1900s the couple came to this area where they have since made their home and he has followed mining and ranching. They have made their home in Dillon since 1940.
In addition to this wife, Margaret, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Everard Turner of Melrose, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Turner of Twin Bridges, and Mrs. William Turner of Deer Lodge and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Turner of Butte; two sons-in-laws and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Veona) Davis of Dillon, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Edna) Meagher of Deer Lodge; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Brundage Chapel with the Rev. William Holland of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be made in Mountain View Cemetery.
