Ophelia Bellamy Gaither, 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at her home in Shallotte, NC.
She was born August 18, 1927 in Brunswick County, NC, the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Rosie Fulford Bellamy, Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William W. "Billy" Gaither, Sr.; two sons, John W. Gaither of Antioch, SC and William W. "B.J." Gaither, Jr., of Shallotte, NC; two daughters Cindy Schmidt of Zapata, TX and Mary Lynn Schmidt of Lavernia, TX, numerous grand and great grandchildren, sisters Leona Cheers, Margaret Parrish, and a brother R.E. Bellamy, Jr. She is predeceased by two brothers Norman Bellamy, Palmer Bellamy, and two sisters Clara Holden and Evyleen Reaves.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Shallotte, NC officiated by the Reverend Sam Murphy. Burial will follow in the Sabbath Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
