David was born in Nescopek Twp., Luzerne Co., PA. He was brought by his father Jacob and family to South Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA sometime before 1798. He was recorded in the 1800 Census as a male child living with his father "Jacob Helper" ( note the spelling Helper a common misspell ) in South Huntingdon Twp.. The location was just East of the Hoffman's Lutheran Church "Old Brick". The 1810 Census recorded David and his wife along with no children as living in South Huntingdon Twp.. The 1811 Tax records recorded David a potter, as living in South Huntingdon Twp.. In 1814 David bought land in Hempfield Twp. and lived near Madison, PA. In 1826 he bought Lot #2 in Mt. Pleasant at the diamond, and a few years later another piece of ground in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland Co., PA. The 1830 Census recorded David as living In Mt. Pleasant Twp.. It is believed that he ran a pottery business in Mt. Pleasant. In 1839 he bought a lot in Athensville (now Mendon) from Joseph Hartley. On October 17, 1846 David and Mary sold a 3 acre lot in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland Co., PA to George Coder. In David's will, written in 1847, he mentions wife Mary to get the Athensville land and son Joseph to get a colt as he was the only one of his children who had not received one. David was recorded in the 1850 Census as 60 years old, retired and living in South Huntingdon Twp.. David died of Softening of the Brain (Stroke). David, wife Mary, son Daniel, grandson David Wagnor, and Son in law Andrew Wagnor are all buried in Madison Union Cemetery in close proximity.
