A sad death occurred in our midst on Friday morning, at the home or Mr. J. O. Conner. Mrs. Connor had been very ill for some time, and her mother, Mrs. Lydia M. Coder, came here from Dedham to nurse her. While here she was taken with pleurisy and a severe cold, and rapidly grew worse until the end. Her husband, Mr. Geo. Coder, of Dedham, and her son, Jacob, from Jones county, came here at once, and the remains were taken to the family home at Dedham where the funeral was held Thursday. Mrs. Coder was a native of Pennsylvania, and was almost 70 years of age. She had resided in this county 17 years and was highly respected and esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances and warm friends. (Carroll Sentinel, Carroll, IA, December 23, 1887)
