John Hepler's estate was entered into the courts on 28 may 1828 in Armstrong CO, PA His will , dated 3 Sep 1827 , was presented to the Armstrong County Court and registered 9 May 1828. Will BK 1 p. 86 Armstrong Co PA, Register Docket VOl 1, p. 65 # 220. According to the register docket, the estate was settled 12 Nov 1836.

There are two conflicting versions of John's final resting place:

"He died in 1828 and was buried in Salem Reformed C, Frogtown, Clarion, Pennsylvania. John married Elizabeth Shoop."

and

"Notes for John B. Hepler: They lived on a farm in Toby Twp., ( Rimersburg area ) Clarion Co. until John's death. Elizabeth lived on the homestead with Adam after his father's death. It is not known where John is buried. John was killed when a log rolled on him. Was 54 yrs at death."
