Nina Struve of Santa Maria died on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the age of 92 in Marian hospital after an extended illness.
Nina Neeley was born on March 28, 1916 in Riverdale, Idaho in a log cabin. She graduated from Preston High School and then the Budge Memorial Hospital in Logan, Utah with a nursing degree. She was working as a nurse in Preston, Idaho when she met her husband, John Roland Struve. After marrying, she and her husband moved to California in 1937. They worked together in their cement contracting business in Los Angeles County. They later retired to Santa Maria.
Nina and her husband were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1976, they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. They had three children: two girls and a boy.
Her first daughter, Marilynn Liston currently resides in Weaverville, California. Nina's second daughter, Sharon Cullen, lived in Oxnard, California and then passed away last April. Nina's son Mori Struve currently resides in Morgan Hill, California. Nina is also survived by her sisters: Lauradene Lindsey of Bountiful, Utah; Marie Davies of Lithia Springs, Georgia; and Emma Bigelow of Salt Lake City, Utah. Nina had 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints May 3, 2008. Graveside services followed at the Santa Maria Cemetary where she is buried beside her husband of 66 years. Dedication of the grave was given by Bishop Jay L. Cheney.
