Born December 13, 1957, in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of Mitchell Allen Blackwell (1935–2012) and the late Miriam (King) Blackwell (1936-1999).
A 1976 graduate of Spartanburg High School, attended Spartanburg Methodist College, was an employee of Faurecia, was the longtime owner/operator of Blackwell Masonry, served with the SC National Guard, and was a member of True Life Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy (Mizalousky) Blackwell; daughters, Candi Moss (Phillip), Lindsay Smith (Brandon), and Stepheny Blackwell; son, Ray Blackwell; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry Allen Blackwell (1959–2012) and Mitchell Shell Blackwell (1962–2021), and sister-in-law, Tandy.
Also predeceased by a sister, Karen Joy Blackwell (1956–1956).
Visitation was 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the Chapel, conducted by Pastor Jeff Mahaffey; the burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials could be made to the American Heart Association, Greenville, SC.
