Johnnie Hutson, 82, of the Fairview community, Norma Road, passed away Saturday evening August 19, 1989, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Joseph Hutson and the late Elizabeth Lawson Hutson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burress Hutson; three sisters: Nancy and Bertie May Hutson, one infant Hutson; six brothers: Sammie Robert, William Mickel, Henry Curtis, Richard, Hubert, and Reuben Hutson; and five grandchildren. He was a member of the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church at Smokey Junction since May 2, 1936.

Mr. Hutson is survived by five daughters: Ellen Lowe and husband, Audney of Dunkirk, Ind., Phyllis Bailey of Huntsville, Gladys Williams and husband, Ronda of the Norma Road, Nova Jean Mastopietro and husband, Harry of Milwaukee, Wis., and Alma Rose Fisher and husband, Elmer of the Norma Road; five sons: Ernest Hutson and wife, Velma of the Annadel Community, James Glen Hutson and wife, Virginia of the Norma Road, Galen Hutson also of the Norma Road, Hoyal Hutson and wife, Phyllis of Straight Fork, and Rev. David Hutson and wife, Evelyn of the Norma Road; one sister, Delphia Williams of the Fairview community; 40 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, with Rev. Carlie Duncan and Rev. Leo Williams officiating. The Ward Family sang. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida is in charge of arrangements. (Source: The Scott County News, 24 Aug 1989, p17)
