He was born on Dec. 21, 1937 in Charlottesville and was a son of the late Bob Hilton Nicholson and Ida Mae Sisk Nicholson.
Mr. Nicholson had worked as a supervisor at the Virginia Oak Tannery for 36 yers and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
On Dec. 17, 1961, he married the former Louise Virginia Knight, who died on March 11, 2010.
He is survived by two sons, Ted W. Nicholson of wife Tracy Nicholson of Shenandoah and J. Gary Nicholson and wife Tammy Nicholson of Luray; a daughter, Nancy Kay Hyre and husband Tony Hyre of Stanley; a stepdaughter, Faye Sue Lester of Stanley;
two brothers, Luther Nicholson of Lovettsville and Milton Nicholson of Culpeper; a sister, Betty Clark of Culpeper; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Hoffman and Ila Nicholson.
A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
