John Pexton, aged 74 years, resident of this county for thirty years and long prominent in the stock business, died at his home in Douglas last Thursday (October 28, 1937). He had been ill for a long time. He was a native of Yorkshire, England, where he was born June 2, 1863. When he was 17 years of age he came with the family to America, locating at Neligh, Nebraska. In 1889 he was married to Miss Mary Krebs, at Neligh. They made that place their home until the fall of 1907, when they moved to Wyoming, locating on a farm under the LaPrele ditch. Since 1918 they have made their home in this city. He is survived by his wife, a son, Lisle, and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Hildebrand, both of Douglas; and fifteen grandchildren. Two sons and a daughter preceded him in death. Surviving also are three brothers, Will in Oklahoma, James in Oregon and Thomas in California.
