Elery Benjamin Thurman, 64, of 40 Nineteenth avenue SW, Cedar Rapids resident 10 years and dairyman for the Krebs Dutch Girl dairies the last eight years, died in Cedar Rapids hospital at 11:35 p.m. Saturday after a brief illness. Born at Dahinda Ill. Jan. 15, 1891, he was affiliated with the Methodist church at Dahinda and was a member of the Eagles lodge in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Kautz Thurman, to whom he was married in Dodge county, Minn.,in November of 1912; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Emminger of Cedar Rapids; a son, Milfred, of Momence, ILL.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert, of Chicago Heights, and Harry, of Knoxville ILL. and four sister, Alma Decker of Chicago, Myrtle Thomas of Chillicothe, Ill., Mrs. James Vance of Odessa MO., and Mrs. Norris Butts of Dahinda.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Ruge funeral home at Momence, with burial at Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Kankakee Ill. Friends may call at the Janeba funeral home until 9 p.m. Monday.
