Milfred E. "Curly" Thurman, 85, of Momence, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999 at his residence in Momence.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. The Rev. Marshall Williams will officiate.
Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Bible Witness Camp or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
He was born Dec. 3, 1913 in Williamsfield, Ill., the son of Elery and Elsie Kautz Thurman.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen C. Rupe, whom he married Jan. 2, 1936 in Lombard; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janice and Robert Bleyle of Momence and Marilyn Hart of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One sister is deceased.
Mr. Thurman was a retired postal employee and had worked for many years at dairy processing plans in Momence and Kankakee.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, delivered food for Meals On Wheels and donated 22 years worth of Old West-New West Magazines to the Momence library.
He enjoyed country music, books about the West and golfing.
