Roberta Priscilla Ord Anderson
1922 - 2017

"Since you are reading this I, Roberta Ord Anderson, am dead. The cause of my death is not important. No matter what the cause, I am still dead. I died November 18, 2017 at the age of 95.

"I was born on February 25, 1922 in Nampa, Idaho to Robert Lewis and Violet Ann Anderson Ord. (Incidentally, for nine months my name was Robert, and then I was born and my parents had to add an “a” to make it Roberta.)

"On June 30, 1942, I participated in the wisest decision of my life. I married Mark Anderson Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Due to Mark’s WWII military assignments, we did not get to live together for the next two and a half years, and thus had a letter-writing honeymoon. We had met at Brigham Young University in a psychology class when I was a freshman. The most important thing we got out of the class was each other.

"We have been blessed with two children: Marcia A (Karl) Barton, and Christian Bernard (LiLi DeHoyos) Anderson, who, with their eternal marriages, have given us 17 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.

"The most important “job” I have had is being a wife and a mother. Next to these have been the positions I have held in the Primary and Relief Society organizations of the LDS Church.

"In addition I have given 27 years of service to Provo School District. The first five years as the Secretary at Grandview School. Then as a fifth grade teacher for nine years, followed by nine years as the Library/Media Coordinator. The last four years of my public teaching career, I was one of the faculty who opened Canyon Crest Elementary School. Again I was the Library/Media Coordinator with a TV Studio therein, and the purchasing of the equipment and supplies for this facility. I am not bragging, just explaining how I spent my time as a school teacher.

"I have also given service to Provo Education Association as treasurer, a faculty representative, a member of various education committees, and as president; and to the Utah Education Association as a member of and chairman of the IPD Committee. In addition, I was a National Education Association Committee member for one of their Ad-Hoc Committees. I also served for 21 years as chairman of the supervisory committee for the Provo School District Credit Union. Again, I am not bragging, just showing how I supported, without salary, organizations dealing with education.

"I am already buried. It was yesterday, November 22, 2017 in the Provo Cemetery, and this morning at 10 in Draper, is the family life celebration party I wanted instead of a funeral.

"If you were thinking of giving any flowers, don’t. Donate that money to Primary Childrens’ Hospital or a charity of your choice in remembrance of me instead."
