The funeral for Murray Stark Kautz will be at noon Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bremen in rural Millville, with Rev. Christian Christenson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery.
Mr. Kautz, 91, of Plainview, formerly of Millville, died Saturday (Dec.14,2002)at Plainview.
He was born July 27, 1911 in Mantorville, and attended schools in Pine Island. He married Loria M. Lueck on June 4, 1933 in Pine Island. The couple lived in Pine Island, working together on farms, and moved to Mora, Minn, in 1939. In 1940, they moved back to Pine Islnad and on Oct. 1, 1942, they moved to Millville, where they farmed and owned and operated Kautz Trucking. Mrs. Kautz died Nov. 12, 1984. Mr. Kautz retired in 1985. He married Esther C. Gehlhar Maas on Jan. 11, 1986. She died Nov.27, 1993. In March 2000, he moved to Luebke's Parkside Elder Care in Plainview and lived at Hillcrest Community Care Center this past week.
He was a member of the Millville Senior Citizens, serving as president for more than 35 years, and he served on the Millville School Board. Since 1957, he was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bremen, where he held several offices. He also had been a member of the Plainview Senior Citizens, serving as president for many years, and a member of the Wabasha County Senior Citizens, where he served as treasurer and held other offices. He attended Hi-Neighbors and was active in SEMCAC. He sponsored Hymn Time with Murray at Hillcrest and was a volunteer driver and bingo-caller. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Farmers Union and held offices in both organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Dale R.(Karen)of Millville and Duane A. (Pat) of Mora; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gaylord (Doris)and Daryl, both of Oronoco, and Francis(Susan)of Ehrenberg, AZ. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
