Francis A. Rathbun, whose maiden name was Neighbours, was born in Green County, Kentucky, Jan 1, 1842 and died March 11, 1910, aged 68 years, 2 months and 10 days. She had been ill three weeks, and the cause of her death was heart trouble.
When 5 years of age she moved with her uncles family to Carlinville, Ill., her parents having died previously to that time. On April 18, 1860, she was married to David Beatty, who died Sept 20 1886, leaving her a widow with eight children. She came to Johnson county, Nebraska, in 1865, and has since made her home here. On Nov 12, 1891, she was married to Job B. Rathbun, who died March 24, 1908.
She joined the M.E. church at an early age, but later united with U.B. church. Her life was that of true Christian, and she was loved and respected by all who knew her. Eight children and five grandchildren, besides many other friends, are left to mourn her death. She has one brother at Carlinville and one at Scottville, in Illinois.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. G. Rooker, were held Sunday afternoon at the family residence, southwest of Crab Orchard, and interment was made in Crab Orchard cemetery.
