Ulysses S. Beatty dies On Jan 11 at Lincoln

Formerly a Resisent of Crab Orchard and Adams--Homesteaded in Dakota

Ulysses S. Beatty passed away at a Lincoln hospital Tuesday, January 11, 1949, at the age of 68 years. He was born on a farm near Clarainda, Ia., and when a small boy moved with his parents to a farm near Crab Orchard where he lived for a number of years.

Later he went to Dakota where he took homestead. After proving up on his land he returned to the farm South of Crab Orchard. Then he moved to Adams where he operated the Ford Garage. While there he was married to Louise Goheen of Adams.

To this union were born four sons and one daughter. He is survived by his wife., Louise of Diller; and children, Ralph of Peru, Carol of Simi, Calif., David of Toyko Japan, Cecil of Simi, Calif., and one daughter Mrs. Leo Eller of Simi, Calif. Also surviving are two brothers, Welsley B of San Francisco, Calif., and Wallace M., of Crab Orchard. There are five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Beatty was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Services were held at Harmon chapel, Beatrice, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Alva Clark officiating. Burial was at the Filley cemetery. Amoung those attending the funeral were Fred G. Smidt and son, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ballard, John Pelham and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Beatty of Crab Orchard and Roy Crook of Lewiston.
