Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lone Tree Methodist church for Mrs. Emma Carl, 83, a lifelong resident of Lone Tree. Mrs. Carl passed away at her home Wednesday night after being ill for several weeks. Rev. David Finley, pastor of the church, officiated. Mrs. Earl Rife played organ selections and accompanied Mrs. Raymond Rife, vocalist.

Mrs. Carl was born in Lone Tree May 19, 1872, the daughter of William and Katharine Matthisen . At the time of her death she was 83 years, 8 months and 19 days of age. She was married to Steward Carl at Lone Tree March 25, 1891.

She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, the Women’s Relief Corps of Lone Tree and the Royal Neighbors of America at Nichols. She was a member of the Lutheran church in Lone Tree, which has gone out of existence.

Surviving Mrs. Carl is one daughter, Edna Carl of Lone Tree.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Viola.

Interment was in the Lone Tree cemetery with Sorden and Adams in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers at the services were Alfred Lennabaugh, Albert Lenz, Frank Krueger, Emmett Bird, F. H. Lenz, and Gus Sambdman. Flower helpers were Elsie Smid, Elsie Lenz, Rose Lennabaugh and Bessie Brinkmeyer.
