Jane or Jean Wallace was born in Caerlaverock, Scotland in April, 1815, to William Wallace and Jean McBurnie Wallace. She married James Lorimer on 7 Feb 1840 in Lochmaben, Dumfreisshire, Scotland. Jane and James Lorimer soon moved to Newcastle, England where their 5 children were born. In 1853, they departed from Liverpool with their 4 surviving children on the ship Leviathan, to make their home in Dunmore, PA. Jane and James lost their 5 year old son, William before their first year in Pennsylvania was over, and Jean herself died 2 years later.
