She was born to James S. Bowder and Elizabeth Stearns-Niebolte on June 25th, 1932, in Duluth, MN. She graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1951. She was a member of the 4-H Club and was a beautiful, talented artist! Her love of animals and nature brought her a lifetime of joy!

She married the love of her life, Joseph Ralph Janchar and together they had six children. Alice would spend hours knitting and sewing items for her many friends and family members! She was an extremely talented baker who carried on her Slovenian heritage tradition of creating ethnic foods with her husband Joe. Apple, walnut, cream, and crackling poticias and their famous homemade pasties were some of their favorites, which have now been passed on to her children!

She was a member of the KSKJ Lodge and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in New Duluth where she was extremely involved with the numerous activities and fundraising events, such as pastie sales, cleaning and caring for the church, helped with annual church dinners and bazaars, and was member of the Women's Council, Eucharistic Minister to name a few. She was also very musical and spent years singing with The Singing Slovenes. Alice enjoyed attending the Minnesota Vikings home games with friends and family! Her love for family was the driving factor in her life and she spent much time planning and attending family gatherings.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth and stepdad Henry (Hank) Niebolte; husband, Joseph Janchar; daughter, Kathy Janchar; granddaughter, Kimberly Glowacki; great grandson, William Louis Hansen; brothers; James (Mary Jo) Bowder, John Bowder, Frank Niebolte, and Adrian Bowder.
